Auto Trophy awards go the Porsche Panamera and the 911 Carrera

The Auto Trophy awards from the leading German car magazine Auto Zeitung go to the Porsche Panamera in the luxury segment and thePorsche 911 Carrera in the sports car segment. The recent new Porsche Panamera has quickly moved up right to the top of the winners’ podium just only in a short period since its release to the market in September 2009. On the opposite, the Porsche 911 Carrera has been defending its top position in the sports car segment for the 16th time.

About 104,442 readers of Auto Zeitung cast their vote in the 22nd Auto Trophy. The Porshe Panamera was the top scorer in the luxury class out of 14 contestants nominated. In the sports car category, the Porshe 911 Carrera as their No 1 out of no less than 23 models.

The Porsche Panamera is a great success not only in Europe, but also with international car journalists the world over, having won a number of international awards recently. In Canada, for example, 70 of the leading car journalists grouped within the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) have chosen the Panamera as the “Best New Prestige Car”.

The Porsche Panamera S is a rear wheel drive with a 4.8-liter V8 engine that produces 400 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. Its top speed is 175 mph and 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds (5.0 sec. with Sport Chrono Package Plus). The price for this new bug is about $89,800. As for the Porsche 911 Carerra, it is a 6-cylinder boxer engine that produces 345 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. Its top speed is 180 mph and can sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
