Porsche Named Most Dependable by J.D. Powers and Associates

U.S.A Today featured this article, and we couldn't agree more.  Porsche has long been recognized as a quality brand, and J.D. Powers and Associates will honor the brand once again as the among the top in dependability. Read the article below, or head over to U.S.A Today to get more information.

"Porsche has the best long-term reliability of any brand, but all of Ford's top three nameplates placed in the top 10 in J.D. Power and Associates' 2010 Vehicle Dependability Survey being released this morning.

Porsches
had an average 110 problems in three-year-old, or 2007 model year, vehicles, the survey found. That's about 90% fewer than the average for all vehicles in the survey among original owners, 198.

Porsche
was followed by Lincoln, 114; Buick and Lexus, 115; Mercury, 121; Toyota, 128; Honda, 132; Ford, 141; Mercedes-Benz, 142; and Acura, 143.

The worst performing brand was Land Rover, followed by Suzuki and Volkswagen.

Ford was clearly tickled:

'These results, along with other consumer-driven indicators, show that we are making solid progress on our promise to deliver high initial quality, long-term durability and overall customer satisfaction,' said Bennie Fowler, group vice president for global quality.

J.D. Power noted that 25 of 36 brands in the survey had improved in long-term reliability last year compared to the 2009 survey. Some of the brands have become much better than consumers consider them to be. The survey singled out Cadillac and Hyundai in addition to the Ford brands.

Despite it's recall woes, Toyota did well in individual brand segments. Toyota Prius, Highlander, Sequoia and Tundra all lead their segments. Honda had the second highest number of segment awards with three."
